The 511 kilometres long „Wuerttemberger Weinstrasse“
(= Wuerttemberg Wine Route) runs from Weikersheim Castle to Metzingen. The holiday route leads through the viticultural areas in Wuerttemberg the fifth-largest area in Germany. Since the 2
nd century the juice of the grape is cultivated in Wuerttemberg. The Metzingen wine belongs to the large site Hohenneuffen. With preference the vine varieties Schwarzriesling, Spaetburgunder (red) and Mueller-Thurgau (white) are cultivated here. Not to forget the Schillerwein which is only allowed to be made of grapes from Wuerttemberg.
